WhatsApp is used by millions of users around the world. Soon after Facebook bought the company some new cool features are being added now and then.Kindly note that some of these features are part of beta update. Updates mentioned other than stable or beta updates.
This post will be updated once another new feature is launched.
Update v2.16.283, Dated 28 Sept 2016
In this version WhatApp added a shortcut for sharing pictures or videos from personal chat or from groups directly. Users no longer needed to long press the image or video to share. There is a new share button available to the left / right side of the respected file.
Update v2.16.281, Dated 27 Sept 2016
In this version,there is a new way of inviting users to a group. "Invite to group via link" button appears when you try to add participants to your group.Tapping the button generates a unique URL that can be shared in three ways — sent as a message via a third-party application, encoded in a QR code or written to a physical NFC tag.
This link can be revoked later.
Update v2.16.279, Dated 20 Sept 2016 (Stable release)
In this version new tagging feature is added by which in group chats users are able to tag other person in the group so that even if they muted the group also they will be notified. To use this feature you have to type "@" (Without quotation mark) it will show a list of users of that particular group then select a user.
Update v2.16.262 , Dated 12 Sept 2016
Snapchat like feature is added. Users can add stickers to their images before sending it and a front facing flash feature also added by which the display flashes bright light before capturing image. To use this feature tap the camera icon available next to the send button in the chat box.
