These 42 apps was deleted from Google Play store but still they have over 8 Million downloads. Stefanko has 21 apps in question and the other 21 apps he has mentioned in a blog post.
Stefanco says, these apps are designed to get pass through any security apps. When the device is unlocked it can display a full screen advertisement. What is more worrying is that these apps can disguise themselves as Facebook or Google. When a user sees an Advertisement and clicks on recent apps menu to see last used apps, these apps can change their icon to disguise themselves and avoid suspicion.
I have mentioned the apps in this post, if you have any of these apps installed kindly remove them ASAP. If you still have any of these apps installed, you can use services like App Brain to identifying the program using its package name.
