Xiaomi's flagship device for the year has been launched by Hugo Barra, Xiaomi Global Head at the MWC.It almost took 2 year for Xiaomi to announce its next flagship. (back in 2014 Xiaomi launched Mi4)Talking about the Mi 5 its a 5 inch form factor flagship device.It comes in three different variants base model which considerably have lower clock speed and storage (1.8 GHz, 32GB) than the other two versions and is ultimately cheaper than the others.The middle variant with 2.15 GHz and 64GB internal storage.The Pro version carries one more advantage from the other two version having an additional 1 gigs of RAM. (2.15 GHz, 128 GB storage and 4 GB RAM). It runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 with company's proprietary UI that is the MIUI v7.
Under the Hood :
The Xiaomi Mi 5 houses a quad core Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz in the base model and 2.1 GHz in the other two variants. The processor is coupled with 3 GB RAM in the base variant and Middle variant and 4 GB RAM in the Pro variant.The Adreno 530 GPU ensures best graphics from the device.As said earlier it comes in three storage variants as 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.It does not features removable storage support.
Design and Build :
The Xiaomi Mi 5 borrows its design from Mi Note and at the same time boasts Zirconium 3D ceramic body.The design also slightly resembles Apple and Samsung like.The device features a physical home button at the front along with the fingerprint scanner.At the top it boasts a IR blaster alongside with a audio jack and at the bottom with speaker grills and USB Type C port.Xiaomi said that design is the prime reason why it took 2 years to build a flagship.The back sports 3D Glass pane (or 3D ceramics in case of pro variant) which curves towards the edges binding to the metal frame.The device weighs only 129 grams making it the lightest flagship of the year comparing with the LG G5 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 and measures 7.25 mm thickness.
Display and Camera :
The Mi 5 sports a 5.1 inch IPS Full HD display (427ppi) with curved glass and adding a corning gorilla glass 4 on top for protection.The display exhibits 600 nits brightness level which is comparatively low with the LG G5 which exhibits 900 nits. Though it is enough for good day light legibility.
The Camera fitted at the rear is a 16 MP shooter from Sony (IMX298) and also integrates Xiaomi's 4 axis Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) which ensures better quality pictures and videos while moving.Technical details : f 2.0 aperture , 1.12 µm pixel size with support for 4K video recording.
On the front, it has a 4 MP shooter with f 2.0 aperture and 2 µm pixel size.It has a 80 degree wide angle lens which gives best shots.
Connectivity and Battery :
Connectivity includes 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE CAT12 (supports speed upto 600 Mbps) with VoLTE and Dual SIM support. Rest of the connectivity includes WiFi a, b, g, n and ac Dua band WiFi supports 2.4 GHz and 5GHz, Bluetooth v 4.2, GPS with A-GPS support, Infrared blaster, NFC and USB Type C.
The device is powered by a 3000 mAh battery with support for Quick charge 3.0 which boasts 20 percent faster charging than the 2.0.

As of now at the launch, Hugo Barra stated that the first country to receive the Mi 5 is their home town China followed by India.The Mi 5 will be available in three different colours White, Gold or Black.
