Last year HMD Global revealed the classic Nokia 3310 with the latest hardware at the MWC held at Barcelona. This year HMD Global has a lot to offer including the classic Nokia 8110 AKA the Banana Phone.
Nokia 8 Sirocco
Nokia 8 Sirocco is the flagship device of the year 2018 with a curved display with the edges measuring only 2mm thickness whilst the body measures 7.5mm. This is an upgrade to the last year’s Nokia 8 with the inclusion of Wireless Charging, Stainless Steel Frame, and curved display. As already mentioned as flagship, this device is priced as high as $921 roughly ₹60,000. Yet the flagship device still uses previous year’s Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset. While other major Smartphone brands are launching with latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. Despite the main frame made of Stainless Steel majority of the device body is made of glass. Both the front and back is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
On the back, the Nokia 8 Sirocco has a dual camera with 12MP + 12MP Carl Zeiss sensor with 2x optical zoom and supports 4K video recording. For selfies, it has a 5MP sensor.
The device has 6 GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There is also a hybrid Dual SIM slot where you can use either a dual SIM or single SIM and a MicroSD card (up to 256GB). The front has a 5.5-inch P-OLED display with Quad HD resolution (1440 x 2560) with 534 ppi density and 16:9 aspect ratio display. The device runs on Android Oreo and is under Android One project, henceforth all the updates are pushed directly by Google. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack and has a USB Type-C reversible connector. All this is powered by a 3260 mAh Non-removable battery.
Nokia 7 plus
The Nokia 7 plus is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 4GB of RAM and packs 64GB of onboard storage. The device runs on Android Oreo under Android One project. Unlike the Nokia 8 Sirocco, the Nokia 7 plus is made of Aluminum with copper edges and measures 8mm thickness.
The smartphone has a dual camera at the back with Carl Zeiss 12MP + 12MP sensor with 2x optical zoom and supports 4K video recording. On the front, it has a 16MP camera sensor made by Carl Zeiss. The device has a 6 inch IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2160). The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It also has Dual SIM Slot (Hybrid Slot). Nokia 7 Plus supports MicroSD card up to 256GB. The device has a 3800 mAh Non–Removable battery.
The Nokia 7 Plus is expected to be priced at ₹ 17,990.
Nokia 6 (2018)
This is an upgraded version of the last year Nokia 6. The Nokia 6 (2018) has a 5.5 inch Full HD display with 16:9 aspect ratio. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor with 3GB and 4GB RAM variants. The device is made of Grade 6000 Aluminum and weighs 172 grams. The device measures a total of 8.2 mm thickness.
Coming to Camera, the device has a 16 MP camera (Single camera only) at the rear made by Carl Zeiss. The device supports only 1080p video recording while the competitors at this same price bracket offer 4K recording. On the front, it has an 8 MP shooter with autofocus and supports 1080p video recording.
The Nokia 7 Plus offers two different storage options – 32GB and 64GB. The device has a Type-C USB connector. The device runs on Android Oreo under Android One project. It has a 3000 mAh battery.
The device is priced at $279-299 (roughly ₹ 22,200).
Nokia one
Nokia One is the low-end smartphone offering a MediaTek MT 6737M chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM. The specialty of the device is that it runs on Android Oreo under Android Oreo Go project. Android Oreo Go project is aimed at entry-level devices to run Android Software without lag. The device basically runs a lighter version of Android OS with Go apps such as Files Go, Maps Go, YouTube Go, Google Go, etc. These Go apps are compact in size and use lesser RAM than normal Apps.
Design wise the device looks like a previous decade device with thick bezels. The device packs 8GB of internal storage and can be extended using a MicroSD card (uses SIM slot 2). It has a 5 MP camera at the back and a 2MP camera at the front. The rear camera support only 480p video recording.
Nokia One has a 4.5-inch 480p resolution display (480 x 854). There is no Gorilla Glass protection for the display. The device is made of Plastic, measures 9.5 mm thickness and weighs 132 grams. The device still supports 4G LTE and is backed by a 2150 mAh battery.
The device is expected to be priced at ₹5,500.
Nokia 8110 aka the banana phone
The Nokia 8110 is a feature phone with 4G capability. The device is powered by a Dual-core Snapdragon 205 with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. The Nokia 8110 has Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity available. On the front, it has a 2.45 inch TFT display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The device supports dual SIM and MicroSD card which supports up to 128GB card.
It runs a Smart OS called KaiOS. On the back, the Nokia 8110 has a 2MP camera with LED flash. The device is powered by a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery.
The Banana Phone is priced at 79 Euros ( approximately ₹6,000).
